Middle School Concept

Our Middle School Philosophy:

Our philosophy is to build students with positive self-concept, a kind attitude, a body of knowledge, a want to try hard, and a creative mind. The goal is for students to find themselves and learn as much as they can while enjoying it. We strive for student-centered learning where students figure out things for themselves and grow based on things they have done themselves.

Purpose of Middle School:

The purpose of middle school is to provide developmental and academic support to young adolescents. This type of school setting is flexible and aims to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all students. We want our students to become the best they can be in terms of academics and morally. We want to promote a learning environment that goes beyond the walls of our school. Our students will learn life skills, academic skills and much more.

How is it different than Junior High?

The middle school setting prides itself with being student-centered. Unlike Junior High schools, middle schools allow for more teacher/student opportunities and for flexible scheduling. Our school is organized into interdisciplinary teams; therefore, students are receiving a well rounded education. Another focus of ours is to provide support for affective development or the development of social skills and emotions. As educators, we also provide different approaches to teaching. We find that when we let students lead their own learning, we see an improvement in student participation.
